Cindy Smith, along with her husband Tony, took over ownership of the bar in the summer of 2005. Cindy was no stranger to the pub. Starting out as a patron over 14 years ago, she advanced to tending bar there for 12 years and when the opportunity arose to buy the joint, she jumped at the chance.

"When I first started coming to the Ten Mile House, it was all regulars from the neighborhood. Everyone knew each other, many of them carrying on the happy hour tradition started by their parents years ago." And how has the bar changed over the years? "We have been able to keep all the regulars and at the same time we diversified our crowd with different events to please a wide spectrum of customers," Cindy said. "So I would say in some ways it hasn't changed at all but I would also say it has changed so much that if you haven't been here in a while, you wouldn't recognize it."

The Ten Mile House offers the standard pub fare: pool table, darts, pinball, golden tee; along with cold beer and a full menu of fantastic grill items. Over the years the bar has added nightly events extending beyond happy hour. Rather then stay at home during the week, you can join in on Texas Hold 'Em two nights a week, come for an open mic jam or join in on the newest addition: movie nights. Weekends at the bar boast some of the best live shows in town.

Digging into the history of live music at the tavern was difficult, at best. There were no records left from previous owners and the best we could come up with was random recollections from some of the patrons. We settled for 7 years, and found that while many of the groups that played over the years have disbanded, the musicians themselves have returned frequently under different names. "I've seen many bands come and go, but the faces have always been familiar," Cindy says. "That's not always the case though. Groups like The Tripdaddys and Earl have been playing the Ten Mile House for years, and they are still packing 'em in today."
